This, we said, was our life...

This, we said, was our life...
We were alone one night on a long road in Montana. This was in winter, a big night, far to the stars. We had hitched, my wife and I, and left our ride at a crossing to go on. Tired and cold--but brave--we trudged along. This, we said, was our life, watched over, allowed to go where we wanted. We said we'd come back some time when we got rich. We'd leave the others and find a night like this, whatever we had to give, and no matter how far, to be so happy again. - William Stafford "Once in the 40's"

Picking battles?

*Supporting women in the labor force is allowing information-sharing and social-networking, which furthers possibility for women's movements for rights. So according to some folks, we should stop supporting male-dominant labor (i.e. oil production) and more intensely support women-dominant labor (i.e. low-wage manufacturing, factory jobs that produce textiles, garments and processed agri goods) [often strong in countries like Guatemala, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Tunisia and Morocco].

----> Women's rights? ah this doesn't make me feel very different about buying clothing and boxed junk food made in Taiwan.
There's justification for everything now!!!!!!

Anyway. Who needs "rights" when you're distracted enough by cooking dinner, being constantly pregnant and raising children? ;) So long as it's enjoyable...
